Nissan said it expects its U.S. sales of cars and trucks in the 1989 model year to be flat with 1988 levels, despite plans to introduce four new or restyled models in the next nine months. Officials acknowledged to reporters that Nissan’s name recognition among buyers still lags their recognition of the auto maker’s old Datsun nameplate dropped in the United States six years ago.
