Crude oil spraying from a leaking pump seal caused a 2-hour fire at the Chevron refinery in El Segundo early Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
Chevron spokesman Rod Spackman said the fire broke out about 3:30 a.m. He said the refinery fire brigade and El Segundo firefighters extinguished the fire in a remote part of the refinery.
Spackman said that the refinery is rerouting crude around the pump.
