Pope Rules Out Women Priests

Share

Once more Pope John Paul II has uttered his tiresome decree concerning women priests: we cannot have them (Part I, Oct. 1). He states that men and women are equal, but men are more equal. His position is that tradition permits only males to be priests. It isn’t a tradition; it’s a custom that can be changed. Thus the sexism, the compulsion to control women within the church, continues.

This has to change. Every person, male or female, has the right to advance in society, no matter what the customs of the church are.

We must destroy all sexist injustice embedded in the Catholic Church. We must convince the Pope that we need women priests. Then we can start a new custom.
