WARSAW —
Thousands of students at universities across Poland rallied today to demand legalization of the outlawed Independent Students’ Assn. and Solidarity.
Demonstrations were held at about 30 universities and colleges in major cities throughout the country, said Piotr Sosnowski, an association spokesman in Gdansk. The government said it “disapproved” of the demonstrations and accused students of trying to “torpedo” upcoming talks between authorities and opposition leaders.
