The Indian government has joined the anti-”Last Temptation of Christ” forces, United News of India reported Sunday. The government of Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi banned the controversial Martin Scorsese film from appearing in any Indian theater. “There is no question of screening any film which will hurt the religious sentiments of people,” the news agency quoted Gandhi spokesman G. Parthasarthy as saying. The ban was made in response to a request from several religious organizations, the news agency reported.
