Science / Medicine : Museum Focusing on Blacks in Science

Share

Benjamin Banneker, the mathematician, astronomer and surveyor who helped plan Washington, D.C., and Dr. Charles Drew, who first developed the use of blood plasma, are just two of the often overlooked black scientists in American history.

A new exhibit at the California Museum of Science and Industry, “Black Achievers in Science,” profiles the important contributions of black scientists, engineers and physicians in their fields and encourages others to pursue careers in the sciences.

The exhibit is currently at the Discovery Gallery and will continue through Jan. 8, 1989. Phone (213) 744-7400.
