Snow fell over the upper Mississippi Valley and in the western Great Lakes region, while heavy rain lashed parts of the south-central states. Iron River, Mich., reported 3 inches of snow, with an inch reported at Calumet. In Wisconsin, up to 2 inches of snow fell across Oneida County, including Rhinelander, and in parts of Vilas and Lincoln counties. Strong, gusty wind whistled across the middle Mississippi and lower Missouri valleys during the afternoon, with gusts peaking between 35 m.p.h. and 50 m.p.h. across the eastern sections of South Dakota and eastern Nebraska into much of Iowa. However, despite the winter-like conditions in some areas of the country, Austin, Tex., posted a record high of 91 and Miami tied its record of 85 degrees. In northeast Arkansas, Berryville registered 1.34 inches of rain, and Dardendale had more than an inch.
