A Mexican police official arrested in a heroin smuggling scheme bragged of investigating the murder of a U.S. drug agent, saying the defendants convicted were “not the people responsible for the assassination,” U.S. officials said. Pedro Guillen-Gonzalez, 39, was arrested with a second Mexican police officer, Margarito Villagrana, 42, late Saturday in a yearlong sting operation conducted by federal and local police.
