A 3-year-old Arab girl in the Gaza Strip town of Khan Yunis died from the effects of tear gas used by Israeli troops, hospital staff members said. Nisrin Jihad Nawatha died of suffocation after troops used tear gas during clashes with striking Palestinians, staff members at the town’s Nasser Hospital told a reporter. An army spokesman said the military is investigating. If the cause of death is confirmed, the child would be the youngest of the 280 or more Palestinians killed in the 10-month Arab uprising against Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
