The Agriculture Department said growers will harvest an orange crop of 217 million boxes--the largest crop in five years. The orange crop would be 10% larger than last season and 20% larger than the year before that. Florida dominates orange production. Its crop is projected as 152 million boxes, up 10% from last season. California’s groves and orchards are expected to yield 61 million boxes of oranges, up 8%. The Florida grapefruit crop was estimated at a record 57 million boxes, up 6%. California grapefruit production is expected to fill 3.9 million boxes, down 7%. Arizona’s grapefruit crop was forecast to fill 1.3 million boxes, down 13%.
