Local News in Brief : 86 Arrested in Sweep for Drunk Drivers
Police arrested 86 motorists on suspicion of drunk driving Friday and Saturday nights in a sweep aimed at reducing the number of traffic fatalities in the Pacoima area.
The sweep concentrated on the area around Van Nuys Boulevard and San Fernando Road, said Sgt. Joe Cross of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.
Cross said the Pacoima area was targeted because it has a higher than average number of drunk-driving fatalities.
