Cybill Shepherd wanted to moonlight as a Memphis, Tenn., resident again--she was, after all, born there. But Shepherd said Tuesday she’s been rejected by the board of Riverbluff, a swank Memphis co-op overlooking the Mississippi in which she sought a home. And her feelings are hurt: “I tell you, I was so hurt. I couldn’t believe this could happen, particularly in my home town.” Board members won’t comment, but the actress said they apparently were concerned she would not spend much time in Memphis and about whom she might allow to use the house--something she considers an insult. “I think anywhere else in the world I could understand someone not knowing me or knowing the kind of person I am,” Shepherd said. “I’m a very upstanding person.”
