Authorities searched Thursday for a gunman who overpowered three museum security guards and stole one of the early works of 19th- Century French sculptor Auguste Rodin, officials said.

The man entered the Rodin Museum Wednesday and fired a shot to demonstrate the gun was real, police said. He then handcuffed three security guards and stole a 12-inch bronze statuette, “The Man with the Broken Nose,” valued at about $75,000.
