Software Porn?

I am writing in regards to the article, “Fun and Games or Compu-Porn?” (by Patt Morrison, Nov. 14). This article dealt with the MacPlaymat computer software.

The men who were interviewed for the article seemed to think that MacPlaymat was funny--an enjoyable recreational tool. But, what are these men doing? They were commanding a “woman” to move her mouth, breasts, legs and hands, to have sex with another woman or with sexual devices, to gag, handcuff and shackle her. These men are expressing a desire to control and dominate a woman. Do these men wonder why they find the desire to dominate another human being enjoyable and fun? I do.

MacPlaymat is voyeuristic and dehumanizing. The desire to control or dominate another person leads to sexual harassment at work, abusive relationships at home and, in the most violent extreme, rape. Clearly, this desire to dominate another human being adversely affects the quality of life for all.
