The government of Turkey has lodged a complaint with ABC for recently airing an episode of the new “Mission: Impossible” series that portrayed Turkish police as corrupt. “Our ambassador to Washington demanded from the network that the episode of the serial, which shows primitive and ugly images totally unrelated to Turkey, be taken off the air,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Inal Batu said. The demand came late, however; the episode was aired Nov. 20. Batu said his government--the justice system of which was also savaged in the 1978 film “Midnight Express”--asked ABC not to repeat the episode. The network’s response, if any, was not made public.
