Presidents' Day

Nov. 22, not Feb. 15, seems to be Presidents' Day.

On this day without reaching or gimmick, The Times carried stories, with pictures, of six of the seven U.S. Presidents during the (presumably) 32-year period, 1961-1993: John F. Kennedy (View), and in Part I, Richard Nixon (page 2), Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter (front page), President Reagan (page 3) and President-elect George Bush (page 2)--all but Lyndon Johnson.

. . . Not to mention four vice presidents in (presumably) the 40 years, 1953-1993: adding Dan Quayle (page 2) to Nixon, Ford and Bush who also held that post.

Truly, a historic, presidential edition of The Times!
