A British business group reported the worst export picture in nearly two years and a forecast of strong industrial growth that could fuel inflation in Great Britain in early 1989. About 28% of British trading companies said export orders were below normal for December, the Confederation of British Industry announced. The group attributed the sluggishness in exports to the continuing strength of the pound, which makes British goods more expensive in foreign markets.
