The stealth fighter, which had been restricted to nighttime flights because of its secret status, has begun daytime flights after the military lifted the lid Nov. 10 on one of its worst-kept secrets, the Air Force said today.

Daytime flights are now being carried out at the stealth base at the Tonopah Test Range, 200 miles northwest of Las Vegas, according to Col. Anthony Tolin, a group commander at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. Tolin declined to give the date of the first daytime flights.
