Affordable Housing in Orange County

Share

Your editorial states that three out of four people in the county are paying more for housing than they “can really afford.” This is a wonderful play on words. If they can’t really afford it, then how are they managing to do it?

It sounds like The Times (or maybe some government agency) thinks it is in a better position than the people themselves to judge what people can afford. Maybe these people have chosen to sacrifice in some other ways so they can live where they want. If that’s the case, then isn’t that what our country is all about? People having the freedom to make their own decisions abut how they live?

The Times is always good at egging others on to “do their part.” I’d like to know how many lower-cost units The Times owns in Costa Mesa to house the employees working at its Orange County facility.
