A Massachusetts company seeking to purchase Universal Foods Corp. has increased its cash tender offer to $35 a share, or more than $600 million just one week after its initial takeover bid was rejected. Amanda Acquisition Corp., a subsidiary of High Voltage Engineering Corp., of Burlington, Mass., had offered $30.50 in cash for each outstanding share of Milwaukee-based Universal Foods.
