World : China-U.S. Film Venture Planned

Chinese and U.S. film makers will try to show that China’s first emperor can be just as big a movie star as its last.

China International Television Corp., a division of the state-run China Central Television, and Lumina Productions of Los Angeles today signed an agreement on production of “China: the First Emperor,” a feature-length film about Emperor Chin, the man who united China more than 2,000 years ago. The film will cost up to $30 million, and will include a cast of 30,000 to 50,000 extras, including two divisions of the People’s Liberation Army, Lumina Vice Chairman Sonny Luu said.
