Local News in Brief : Cypress : Executive Picked to Run Foundation for College

Richard B. Dollar, former vice president for institutional advancement at North Carolina Wesleyan College, has been appointed executive director of the Cypress College Foundation, college President Kirk Avery announced.

The foundation is the nonprofit, fund-raising arm of the community college. The money donated to the foundation pays for special academic programs and projects that the community college otherwise could not afford, Avery said.

“We conducted an extensive national search for a proven professional and are extremely pleased to have a man of Richard’s caliber as head of our foundation,” said Avery.

Dollar, 40, is a native of Bulloch County, Ga. Before his 6-year stint as an administrator at North Carolina Wesleyan, Dollar spent 7 years as director of resource development at Georgia Southern College.

Following their move from North Carolina, Dollar, his wife, Susan, and their daughter, Jennifer, are now making their home in Anaheim.
