‘Violence by Skinheads’
Being a member of the Los Angeles-based Crips gang, I find myself commenting on the article on skinheads.
Skinheads pose the most dangerous threat to the fabric of this society.
Unlike black and Hispanic gangs in our area, skinheads enjoy the best of both worlds. Like the black gangs in Los Angeles, skinheads are a loosely knit lot with no clear recognizable leaders.
A law enforcement official quoted in the article mentioned that skinheads “won’t survive because they don’t have an economic base. They’re not dealing in drugs like other gangs.” Fortune never stays in one spot; like the black gangs who have strongholds in the lucrative cocaine industry, the skinheads economic base or fortune may come in the form of white-collar crimes.
Unlike the Crips, which have taken about two decades to gain national attention, skinheads have seemed to mobilize their forces overnight in a national effort to spread their hate doctrine. No other gangs in the last two decades have been able to achieve strongholds in all sorts of cities across America in such a short time.
The emergence of skinheads has caused various minority groups to arm themselves in fear of racially motivated attacks. Surely if the skinhead movement grows in numbers and strength, it will be the embryo to racial violence and unrest in America.
