In Brief : Chi Chi Rodriguez Wins Golf Honor
Juan (Chi Chi) Rodriguez has been named the 1989 Bob Jones Award winner for distinguished sportsmanship by the U.S. Golf Assn.
The announcement was made today by Eugene M. Howerdd Jr., chairman of the award committee. Rodriguez is expected to receive the award Feb. 4 in New Orleans at a luncheon after the USGA’s annual meeting.
The Bob Jones Award has been given annually since 1955 “in commemoration of the vast contribution by Jones to the cause of fair play during and after his distinguished playing career.”
