Former Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos left St. Francis Medical Center in Honolulu by ambulance a week after being hospitalized for treatment of congestive heart disease, hospital officials said. Marcos’ spokesman, Gemmo Trinidad, confirmed that the former leader has returned to his hillside Honolulu home but said he had no further information. It was Marcos’ second episode of the heart ailment in a month. He and his wife, Imelda, 59, have been indicted in New York on charges that they used $103 million in stolen Philippine government funds to buy four Manhattan buildings and defrauded banks of $165 million in refinancing the properties. Marcos’ lawyers contend he is too ill to travel to New York to face the charges.
