President-elect Bush, hinting at opposition to President Reagan’s proposed 50% pay raises for top government officials, warned today that such spending boosts would have to be offset by reductions elsewhere.

Bush said he would support the President--”I’m the vice president and I will be supportive of what the President decides”--at least until he is inaugurated Jan. 20. “When the ball is in my court and the buck is stopping on my back, I might have something else to say about that,” he told reporters at a meeting with small business leaders.
