Andrei Dundukov of the Soviet Union took the lead after the jumping event in the World Cup Nordic combined competition at Schonach, West Germany.
Dundukov had 224 points after 2 jumps of 89.5 meters.
Hubert Schwarz of West Germany held second place with a total of 218.3 points after jumps of 86.5 meters and 88 meters. He trails Dundukov by 38 seconds.
