Politburo Group Will Meet on Unrest in Armenia, Azerbaijan
From Reuters
MOSCOW — Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev has signaled frustration with ethnic unrest in Armenia and Azerbaijan and said that a Politburo commission will meet this week to resolve the problem, according to reports published Sunday.
At the same time, Gen. Vyacheslav Pankin, an Interior Ministry official, said Saturday that 43 people died and hundreds were injured in violence in the two republics in November and December.
This brought to 78 the toll from 10 months of violence over the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
