Honda Motor Co. expects a more than tenfold increase in two years in the number of autos that it produces in the United States and imports to Japan, Honda President Tadashi Kume said. Last year, Japan’s No. 3 auto maker imported to Japan 5,385 two-door Accord coupes made at its Marysville, Ohio, plant. It was the first time Honda imported cars that it produced in the United States. Honda expects to import about 4,600 Accords this year from the United States, “but by 1991, when we plan to sell 800,000 autos in the domestic (Japanese) market, we plan to import 50,000 cars from Ohio,” Kume said.
