At least four Israeli jets bombed bases of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah, a radical Palestinian faction believed led by Abu Nidal, on the outskirts of Sidon in southern Lebanon, police said. There were no immediate reports of casualties in the 10-minute raid, Israel’s first in Lebanon this year. In Jerusalem, an army spokesman said the raid was aimed at preempting attacks on Israel by the group, which has been blamed for terrorist incidents in Israel and Europe. He said all planes returned safely. Last year in March, Israel bombed the same sites in Lebanon, killing at least 17 people.
