Local News in Brief : $59,055 in Olympic Surplus Distributed

The Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles, the foundation responsible for distributing 1984 Olympic surplus funds to Southern California youth sports activities, has made $59,055 in new grants.

The largest sum, $29,055, went to the California Handicapped Skiers’ Foundation for a learn-to-ski program for 75 participants at Bear Mountain. Fifty of the youngsters will be students from the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Mini-grants of $5,000 each were given to the Heartwell Pony-Colt Baseball League serving Lakewood, Artesia and Cerritos; Pony Baseball of Santa Barbara; the Central Altadena Little League; the Toluca-Studio City Senior Little League; the Warner Hodgdon Little League in San Bernardino, and the Newbury Park Bobby Sox Softball League.
