World : School Bus, Train Crash Kills 40

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka —
A train slammed into a school bus south of the capital of Colombo today, killing about 40 people, many of them children, police officials said.
The train struck the school bus at an unattended level crossing in the town of Ahungalla, 48 miles south of Colombo, the officials said. Besides the 40 killed, at least 55 other people were injured, nearly half of them critically. The train was traveling from Kalutara to Galle, both south of Colombo.
