Former Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, who arrived in Africa recently on a mysterious mission and then was stranded in Zaire, will soon be returned to his exile home in Saudi Arabia, official sources said. Saudi Arabia reportedly reconsidered its refusal to allow Amin back after intervention by “a great friend” of Zairian President Mobutu Sese Seko, believed to be King Hassan II of Morocco. Amin’s return would end a two-week odyssey that has embarrassed Zaire. It also frustrates the Ugandan government, which had hoped to have Amin extradited to face charges over the estimated 250,000 deaths during his eight-year reign.
