Dataproducts Corp., a Woodland Hills manufacturer of computer printers, said its fiscal third-quarter profit jumped 51% from a year earlier on a 4% gain in revenue.

In the three months ended Dec. 24, Dataproducts earned $1.63 million, or 8 cents a share, up from $1.08 million, or a nickel a share, a year earlier. Revenue rose to $94.5 million from $91.2 million.

Dataproducts said the improved results reflected higher sales volume. But the company also reported a slowdown in computer-printer orders in the current quarter from customers that market complete computer systems.
