Missiles
Was anyone else as appalled as I was to read that the Pentagon is still calling for the “eventual deployment of 100 MX missiles on rail cars that would shuttle between11 U.S. bases on the public rail system in times of crisis” (Part I, Jan. 17)?
How would you like to have such a train roll past your house or farm?
Not to mention that this project is already estimated as costing $7.4 billion and could increase, according to the General Accounting Office, if present plans to begin deployment by 1992 are adhered to.
Insanity!
