The Vietnamese government turned over to the United States remains believed to be those of 23 Americans killed in the Vietnam War, a U.S. Embassy spokesman said in Bangkok, Thailand. Ross Petzing said the remains are being flown to the U.S. Joint Casualty Resolution Center in Hawaii for identification. Currently, 2,383 Americans are listed as missing in action in Indochina--1,747 in Vietnam, 547 in Laos, 83 in Cambodia and 6 in China. The latest repatriation comes a month after Vietnam turned over the remains of 38 individuals, the largest group since the war’s end.
