Jean Stapleton of television’s “All in the Family” is starring in the San Jose Civic Light Opera production of “Sweeney Todd,” playing the role originated on Broadway by another familiar TV face, Angela Lansbury. Edward Evanko has the title role and Stapleton is Mrs. Lovett, his partner in crime. The Associated Press said of the show: “Miss Stapleton is not as strong in voice as Evanko, but delights nonetheless with her portrayal of the pie baker as a sort of psychotic Edith Bunker.”
