Decrying Attacks on Asian People

I write to say I’m somewhat diminished as a proud American who has served in the military to find violence and vandalism seemingly singling out people of Asian ancestry--or any group, whatever its nature.

It undermines everything America stands for. I don’t think I would have cared to be in the service to protect the rights of self-appointed individuals to vandalize things which represent Asian culture or European culture or African culture.

I’m willing to bet our society is founded upon freedom from these kinds of things and not freedom for such doings. One cannot escape the debilitating aspect of racism in continued attacks on pre-selected groups of people. This is particularly frightening when many of these people are honest, law-abiding, tax-paying American citizens who speak perfect English or are in process of learning!
