Du Pont Co.’s 1988 earnings rose 23% to $2.2 billion as revenue increased 8% to $32.9 billion. The diversified petroleum, plastics and chemical company, based in Wilmington, Del., credited the improved results to strong performances by the petroleum, agricultural and industrial chemicals, polymer products, coal and fibers segments.
