U.S. Discloses Sale of Wheat to Soviets
WASHINGTON —
The United States sold 530,000 metric tons of subsidized wheat to the Soviet Union, the Agriculture Department has announced.
The department said it had accepted bids for export subsidies averaging $23.35 a ton for the wheat. The bonuses are made in the form of government-owned commodities rather than cash.
