Mary Decker Slaney, who set an American indoor record of 2:37.60 for 1,000 meters Saturday night at Portland, Ore., will run the same event in the Times/Eagle Indoor Games at the Forum Feb. 17, officials said.

The world indoor record is 2:34.8, held by Brigitte Kraus of West Germany.

Rodion Gataullin of the Soviet Union has been added to the pole vault field after setting a world indoor record of 19 feet 8 1/4 inches at Leningrad last Sunday. Gataullin broke the record of 19-7 held by countryman Sergei Bubka since March 1987. Bubka still holds the outdoor record of 19-9 1/2.
