San Diego
San Diego Police Chief Bob Burgreen and Councilwoman Abbe Wolfsheimer are expected to officiate at an 11 a.m. dedication today of the new Northeastern Station, said Bill Robinson, department spokesman.
The 5,000-square-foot building at 13396 Salmon River Road in Rancho Penasquitos is heated by solar water power, and will house 200 officers and support personnel, Robinson said. The officers will serve the residents of Scripps Ranch, Mira Mesa, Miramar, Rancho Penasquitos and Rancho Bernardo. The officers have been working in a temporary building on the site.
The building also has staff exercise rooms and a public meeting room. Another building will house facilities for light vehicle maintenance, Robinson said.
The $3.1-million station, which has a Spanish motif, is the fourth the Police Department has opened in the last four years, said Robinson.
