‘Standing Firm on Medicare’

Your editorial certainly does not reflect the view of the 40% of the current elderly who must pick up the tab. This tax on our limited fixed incomes is unfair, unjust and unwanted. It was recently estimated that 90% of us have our own less costly coverage which we will continue to carry. We insist that we should have a choice in the matter, and are highly incensed that we must support from our meager funds the welfare burden of the sick, the lame and the not too energetic.

Poll your readers fairly and you will obtain a far different reaction to this tax than you have presented.
