CMS Enhancements Inc., a Tustin company that makes personal computer storage devices, reported record results for both the second quarter and first half ended Dec. 31. Net income for the second quarter increased 167%, to $1.3 million from $501,000 a year ago. Sales for the quarter rose 41% to $56.7 million from $40.1 million a year ago. For the 6-month period, net income tripled to $2.5 million from $814,000 for the comparable period last year. Sales totaled $104.7 million, a 42% increase from the $73.6 million posted a year ago. Jim Farooquee, president and chief executive, said the record results are due to the company’s continuing move toward higher-margin products, coupled with a further increase in the customer base, emphasis on U.S. national distributors and greater international sales.
