Share

A quartet of comics presented Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley with a $150,000 check Tuesday representing some of the proceeds from the Comic Relief concerts to benefit the homeless.

The donation, presented by Robin Williams, Elayne Boosler, Bobcat Goldthwait and Richard Lewis, was a slice of the $5.1 million raised in the two Comic Relief benefits to date. The check was designated for the Los Angeles Homeless Health Care Project, which provides medical care for 20,000 homeless people.

This year’s Comic Relief concert is set March 18 at the Universal Amphitheater in Universal City.

“The city of Los Angeles has benefitted generously from their contributions,” Bradley said before accepting the check during a news conference at the Grammercy Place Shelter for the homeless in the Mid-Wilshire District.

“We proved we could in fact reach out (to people in need) not just across the ocean,” Bradley said, “but across the street.”
