Pasadena : Cable Agreement Reached

Share

Cable television service will be extended to the Linda Vista area starting this summer, under a new agreement between the city and its cable franchise holder, Choice Television.

Mayor William E. Thomson Jr. announced that attorneys for the city and Choice Television have resolved a dispute over the cable company’s obligations under the franchise.

Under the compromise agreement, which is scheduled for a public hearing Tuesday, Choice Television will install cable service to 61% of the nearly 1,300 homes in the Linda Vista area by September, 1990, and the remainder by 1992. The city will relieve Choice of the obligation of contributing 2% of its gross revenue to public access programming unless the number of subscribers increases substantially.

Choice owes $285,000 for public access support and has agreed to meet that obligation by paying $4,200 a month for six years.
