WORLD : Vietnam to Repatriate Boat People
A Vietnamese delegation arrived today to help arrange the first large-scale repatriation of boat people willing to return home. It was the first time a delegation from Hanoi has visited this British colony.
The four-member team will interview and issue travel documents to 83 Vietnamese boat people who have asked to return home, Hong Kong government spokesman Akber Khan said. Vietnam earlier cleared repatriation of 145 Vietnamese from Hong Kong, but some changed their minds, Khan said. There are more than 25,000 Vietnamese in Hong Kong camps.
