Fasting Chilean Leftists Reported Ailing in Jail

SANTIAGO, Chile —
Four Chilean leftists, among a group of 14 jailed guerrillas taking part in an indefinite hunger strike, are suffering kidney problems and are unable to stand up, their families and defense lawyers said Thursday.
The guerrillas, mostly members of the Communist Manuel Rodriguez Patriotic Front, have been on a hunger strike for the past 24 days to protest having to share cells with common criminals.
