OSLO —
A Norwegian lawyer has been fined a record $15,000 for drunken driving, news reports said Wednesday.
The penalty, which included a 21-day suspended jail sentence, was levied Tuesday by an Oslo court under new rules pegging fines to income. The unidentified 45-year-old lawyer earned about $190,000 a year, newspapers said.
The previous record fine was last month when a businessman found guilty of drunken driving paid $11,200.
