Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian in a stone-throwing clash in the West Bank on Thursday and wounded eight others, Arab doctors said. Earlier Thursday, a 4-year-old Arab girl died of head injuries suffered in a mysterious explosion three days ago.

In the West Bank city of Nablus, doctors at Ittihad Hospital said 25-year-old Issam El Bulbul died of a chest wound suffered in a stone-throwing clash with soldiers. Eight others were reportedly wounded. The army had no immediate comment.

Arab reports said troops opened fire while pursuing Palestinians who hurled rocks at an army patrol in Nablus’ Old City.

At the same time, Palestinian doctors at East Jerusalem’s Mukassad Hospital said Iktimal Abdullah of Tayasir village in the West Bank died of injuries suffered three days ago when a device she found near her home exploded. Her 10-year-old brother Naim was wounded. A military source confirmed the death.

The army launched an investigation Wednesday into that blast and into other unexplained explosions in the West Bank that killed two other Palestinians and wounded eight.

The air force also has been asked to look into the explosions after Palestinians reported seeing helicopters in the area of one incident.
